The current decision of Abubarkar Idris ( son of the former Governor of Kogi State) to vie for the office of the governor in the same state is not out of step with modernity.
Because it is not a personal decision but a call to duty by kogites to uphold and strengthen his father’s legacy lost to the wind.
In the United State of America in 2011, George W. Bush became the first modern president whose father ( President George H.W Bush) had also been elected President., (The sixth President , John Quincy Adams was the son of the second President, John Adams).
The experience of the US and possibly that of Kogi clearly indicates that citizen are willing , through a democratically contested process and based on individuals merit to elect family members of a former leader of a country or state.
Abubarka Idris has had a unique opportunity to understudy his father’s leadership and managerial style daily. Amsidt this rare privilege, he never push for relevance . He observed how his father Alhaji Ibrahim Idris directed operation at the boardroom of governance.
Abubarkar Idris was privy to the way his father lead people with unfathomable compassion and offered real – world , value-filled policy with corresponding adequate implementation addressing the primary needs of Kogites. No doubt, Abubakar Idris has the potential to bring back the lost glory of Kogi State at least if not for anything the payment of WAEC and NECO fees must be rekindle from the doldrum again.
The prevailing situation in Kogi is so sad that any right – thinking individual with a milk of compassion flowing through his veins must respond to offer his own quota to enhance positive change , growth and development and reverse the sate from the current economic quagmire.
Abubarka Idris has the will, knows the way too to uplift the masses through various empowerment schemes . And as well be a strong advocate or defender of the state workers and pensioners by ensuring undelayed payment of salaries and pension. He is ready to rebuild the state , revive the lost glory of our institutions such as the bureaucracy, the economy of the state , the judiciary , university civil servant and allowed civil organization to thrives.
